A subscriber tipped me off about the Jam for George, and diving deeper, it’s clear why George Hartner was so widely loved in Wilmington. Musician, surfer, friend, and community advocate, George inspired everyone around him. This Saturday at Captain Mikes Tavern, some of George’s old bandmates, along with The Squid Billies and Wes Rider, will play in his honor — with proceeds supporting the scholarship in his name.
